As the Trenton Free Public Library commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we are invited not only to remember history but to consider what it continues to ask of us today.
Our Library is deeply connected to the Revolutionary era through its collections, archives, and preserved stories—especially those relating to the pivotal Battle of Trenton. These materials allow us to explore the people, events, and ideas that shaped the nation’s path toward independence.
Throughout 2026, our REV250 programming will offer opportunities to engage with history through exhibits, lectures, performances, film screenings, and hands-on activities for all ages. This commemorative magazine reflects that mission: it serves as both an invitation to participate in the Library’s programs and a resource for discovering the revolutionary heritage preserved within our collections, spaces, and partnerships.

The 250th anniversary provides the Trenton Free Public Library with an opportunity to expand public engagement with its collections and historical learning.
