The Friends of Trenton Free Public Library is collaborating with Building Better Communities and Elements of the Community, Inc. to provide the Trenton community with access to the Emergency Broadband Benefit, a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program. The temporary benefit will help lower the cost of broadband service for eligible households during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Starting November 10, Every Wednesday from 2:15 pm – 4:30 pm, staff from the two community partners will be at the library to help patrons apply for the tablets with Free WIFI. Eligible patrons or households will receive the tablet onsite. A one-time $20 activation fee will be required. Please join us for the Virtual Book Discussion with Lauren B. Davis. We will discuss Lauren’s new novel, “Even So”. Sr. Rita Woehlcke and Patricia Smith will join the conversation. Lauren B. Davis explores what it means to love others — even the selfish, the careless, and those who not only are harmed by others, but who also do harm — in her latest novel "Even So." Set in Princeton and nearby Trenton, it is a story of both passion and compassion that tackles the challenge and necessity of loving difficult people. Please register at this link. About the Speakers: Lauren B. Davis is the author of "The Grimoire of Kensington Market," "Against a Darkening Sky," "The Empty Room," "Our Daily Bread," and "The Radiant City." “Even So”, already a bestseller, is her seventh novel. Lauren’s work has been longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, Shortlisted for the Rogers Writers Trust Friction Prize, The CBC Literary Awards and the ReLit Award. Lauren was born in Montreal, lived in France for ten years and now she, her husband Ron, and their Rescue pup Bailey split their time between Princeton, NJ, and a small log cabin by a creek in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Sr. Rita Woehlcke, Sisters of Saint Joseph., is the director of the SSJ Associates in Mission of Philadelphia. Her recent work was in spiritual direction, retreats and programs for personal and ministerial growth. In addition to master’s degrees in literature and pastoral counseling, Sister Rita holds a graduate certificate in spiritual direction. Twelve-Step spirituality is an integral part of her personal and professional life. Patricia Smith is a board member of the Trenton Free Public Library.
