Adult Collection
Adult Fiction books can be found in the Reading Room on the Mezzanine level of the library. This collection consists of books targeted to adult readers and includes a variety of genres such as fantasy, mystery, romance, and science fiction.
New Adult Fiction books are located on the 2nd floor of the library. These books have been published within the last 6 months and are new to our Adult Fiction collection.
Urban Fiction books are located on the 1st floor of the library. This collection consists of books that are set in city landscapes and discuss the socio-economic realities and culture of its characters.
Adult Graphic Novels (fiction & nonfiction) can be found in the Reading Room on the Mezzanine level of the library. Graphic Novels are books written in comic-strip format.
Local Author Collection is located on the 1st floor of the library in the Poetry Café. This collection consists of both fiction and nonfiction books written by Trenton and local area authors.
Poetry Collection is located on the 1st floor of the library in the Poetry Café, as well as beginning in the 811 section in the adult area on the 2nd floor.
Adult Nonfiction books are located on the 2nd floor of the library. Nonfiction books are based on fact, real people, and real events. Our collection covers a wide variety of topics such as careers, health, technology, and history.
New Nonfiction books are located on the 2nd floor on a display stand near the Reference Desk. These books have been published within the last 6 months and are new to our Adult Nonfiction collection.
Autobiographies & Biographies are located on the 2nd floor of the library. They are written accounts of a person’s life.
Information Manuals are located on the 2nd floor of the library. It is a collection of instructional manuals that include materials on ACT, ASVAB, Citizenship Test, Civil Service Exams, CLEP, ESL, GED, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, NCLEX-RN, PRAXIS, PSAT, Resume Writing, SAT, SSAT, TOEFL.
Reference Books are located on the 2nd floor of the library. They are intended for in-house use and do not circulate. This collection consists of books such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, and handbooks.
Spanish Collection
La colección de libros escritos en español consiste de libros de cartón, libros ilustrados, lectores fáciles, novelas juvenil, novelas gráficas, no-ficción y biografías.
Children’s Collection
All Children’s books and DVDs are located in the Children’s Room in the lower level of the library. Our collection includes:
Board Books are specially designed for babies and toddlers. Stiff cardboard pages are easy to turn and can stand up to rough handling.
Picture Books are stories with large, colorful illustrations on each page that make these a favorite for kids and adults of all ages.
Easy Readers are perfect for kids that are learning to read. Limited words and controlled vocabulary help kids learn new words and practice ones they already know.
Juvenile Fiction books are imaginative stories for kids generally aged 7 through 13. Typically divided into chapters, this group includes fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, and realistic fiction.
Graphic Novels are fiction and non-fiction books written in comic-strip format.
Non-Fiction books are informational books written about different subjects, real events, or real people for kids of all ages and reading levels.
Biographies and Autobiographies tell true stories of famous people in history, science, music, sports, and art.
Spanish Collection is a collection of Board Books, Picture Books, Easy Readers, Juvenile Fiction, Graphic Novels, Non-Fiction, and Biographies written in Spanish.
Parenting Books offer information, tips, and advice on many subjects for parents of kids in all stages of childhood.
Reference Books consist of dictionaries, encyclopedias, guidebooks, and handbooks. They are meant for use in the library and are not available for check out.
Young Adult Collection
YA (Young Adult) Fiction books are imaginative stories for teens. Genres in this group include fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, realistic fiction and dystopian novels.
Graphic Novels are fiction and non-fiction books written in comic-strip format.
Non-Fiction books are informational books written about different subjects, real events, or real people for teens of all ages and reading levels.
College Prep books help high school students in the college research process. This collection includes college and university guidebooks, test preparation books and study aids, and financial aid handbooks.
Career Guidance books provide information on different jobs and careers.
Biographies and Autobiographies tell true stories of famous people in history, science, music, sports, and art.
Reference Books consist of dictionaries, encyclopedias, guidebooks, and handbooks. They are meant for use in the library and are not available for check out.
