Established by the Legal Action Center, the National Helping Individuals with criminal records Re-enter through Employment Network is both a national clearinghouse for information and an advocate for policy change. The goal of the National H.I.R.E. Network is to increase the number and quality of job opportunities available to people with criminal records by changing public policies, employment practices and public opinion. The National H.I.R.E. Network also provides training and technical assistance to agencies working to improve the employment prospects for people with criminal records.

The Career Gateway is a new online career planning and jobseekers website developed by IAJVS in collaboration with nine local JVS affiliates. The FREE website is designed so that the navigation and content is accessible to a diverse group of users requiring career planning assistance.

The ILostMyJob.com website contains free, expert videos and articles that are organized into steps to take after job loss. Anyone who loses a job can go through these steps to help guide a new employment search.

The Career Networking Group (CNG) is a professional forum that facilitates career transition and management.

Group members share contacts, info, resources, support and encouragement with those seeking new career opportunities. Presenters and facilitators are professionals who volunteer their support. CNG is open to the public and free of charge.

The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings of each month at the Bernards Township Library in Basking Ridge, NJ.

 

Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors

Neighbors helping Neighbors (NhN), an organization offering free peer volunteer support for people actively seeking employment, is pleased to announce the formation of new groups throughout Bergen County. Started in River Edge in January, 2011, NhN has fostered an environment in which group members assist each other in job search techniques and suggestions based on personal experience plus personal and professional networking. Resources are available at host libraries to assist with computer job searches and other useful resources.
